Killearn Lakes Plantation is one of Tallahassee's largest subdivisions, a wooded development of more than 4,000 homes about 11 miles north of downtown, begun in the 1970s. It has about 4,225 property owners. Homes average about 1,900 square feet on half-acre lots. Scotswood and Pine Landing are townhome sections. Annual HOA dues are low, and the association maintains three parks, five lakes and trails.
